Clownster Comedy

So, yes, this is another comedy review site (like Chortle… only less professional, exhaustive or well written) but these are just my opinions so hardly deserve gospel status. I have been watching live comedy for around 15 years and I have to say that I 100% admire anyone who has the guts to take to a spot lit stage in front of an unknown crowd armed with just a microphone and their wits. It’s a profession that I know I could not do and for that I doff my tiny bowler hat to them.

Ella Woods & Chloe Green: Venn (WiP 2019)

The Invisible Dot emerges from the ether once more, in a spectral reincarnation of its former self. Once upon a time, The Invisible Dot, nestled near Kings Cross, stood as one of London's quirkiest venues – a haven for the... Continue Reading →

Abbott & Costello: Who’s on First (recorded: 1944)

This is a comedy routine that I have turned to time and time again, it has become my go-to-clip whenever I meet someone at work who says "old films aren't funny" - and I can't think of a better single... Continue Reading →

Jim Campbell: VAULT Festival (WiP 2019)

Vaultfest is quickly becoming one of my must-hit events in London. I love the fact that one minute you can be walking down a deserted South Bank on a cold mid-week night and the next you find yourself taking the... Continue Reading →

Henning Wehn: Get on with it (2018)

It had been THAT kind of day, the kind of day that makes you want your first ‘cocktail’ of the evening to be half a bottle of Zybrowka and ten packs of Paramol! Thankfully my comedy pal had other ideas... Continue Reading →

Mark Thomas: Check-Up (2018)

The last time that I had ventured to Dalston had been a trip to a sweat box, dropping club in the basement of a convenience store. It had been a fun night but not one that I have been tempted... Continue Reading →

Dara O Briain: Voice of Reason (2018)

When someone mentions Dara O Briain the first thing that probably comes to mind is “that game show host from Mock the Week and 8-bit”. Some people would probably stick him in the same box as regular TV personalities like Rob Brydon... Continue Reading →

Reginald D Hunter: An American Facing the Beast and Niggas (2018)

I actually can't believe that I haven't written up a Reginald D Hunter show before. I have been gleefully watching him perform since my first ever Fringe where I actually bumped in to him on the balcony at the Perrier... Continue Reading →

Flo & Joan: Alive on Stage (2018)

I actually managed to catch the work in progress version of this show at Vault Festival earlier this year, and even though i knew there would be a lot of similarities between the two performances I had seen enough to... Continue Reading →

Dylan Moran: Dr Cosmos (2018)

This was a set of tickets that I was truly thrilled to get my hands on. In all of my many years of watching stand-up comedy I have somehow never managed to catch Dylan Moran live, he was slowly becoming... Continue Reading →
