Clownster Comedy

So, yes, this is another comedy review site (like Chortle… only less professional, exhaustive or well written) but these are just my opinions so hardly deserve gospel status. I have been watching live comedy for around 15 years and I have to say that I 100% admire anyone who has the guts to take to a spot lit stage in front of an unknown crowd armed with just a microphone and their wits. It’s a profession that I know I could not do and for that I doff my tiny bowler hat to them.

Sam Lake: You’re Joking!? Not Another One! (2025)

We love nothing more than a quality recommendation, so when comedian Huge Davies flagged up an 'incredible', clown with tickets to sell, performing just over the road we quickly got on the case! We haven't been to the Tron for... Continue Reading →

John Robertson: The Dark Room (2025)

“Ya die! Ya die! Ya die! YA DIE!” Normally, if hundreds of people are screaming this at you while pointing accusingly, you’ve had a very bad night. But in The Dark Room, the rules are gloriously different. As the lights go... Continue Reading →

Amy Webber: Wannabe (2025)

So, funny story: we originally had tickets to see this musical clown at the Brighton Fringe, but thanks to a string of fairly bizarre circumstances we couldn’t make it. Instead, we dispatched a Spanish pal in our place, who bravely... Continue Reading →

Tim Minchin: Songs The World Will Never Hear (2025)

Forget Oasis – this was the gig we absolutely had to catch this year. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of watching clowns transition from their very first Edinburgh shows to levels of fame and fortune they probably couldn’t... Continue Reading →

Sam See: Government Approved Vote (2025)

Whilst we’re busy doing our little ‘reviewer’ thing at this year’s Brighton Fringe, it became apparent that one of our clan had his own review agenda. He had taken up something called the 100 Pints Challenge, where he had a... Continue Reading →

FRAT: Namesake Theatre (2025)

Today, in the ongoing battle between man and food… both won! Strange opening for a comedy theatre review, but we’re back at Brighton Fringe and, as regular readers know, we like to cover the full experience – and for that,... Continue Reading →

Michael McKenzie: Bed 32 (2025)

As we wandered down Brighton Beach to one of our favourite pre-show haunts (The Loading Bar), we were stopped in our tracks by the shocking news that it had been hired out for a corporate event! Disappointed but by no... Continue Reading →

Eshaan Akbar: Yum (2025)

As the bright evening sun glistened across the stage, the four of us sat on our stools, mixed drinks in hand and wondered why we had never seen comedy in this place before. Where were we you ask, Honolulu? Havana?... Continue Reading →

Mixed Bill: Emily Bampton @ Comedy in Ruins (2025)

Ev-ree-bod-ee, everybody in the house of… gin? Okay, so that isn’t quite right, but hopefully, my incredibly dated music reference gives you some idea of just how much time I’ve spent in Walthamstow. I always get a little sceptical when... Continue Reading →
